Just some benefits of using Hysteresis brakes and clutches over and above mechanical and 'Dry-powder' brakes and clutches include:
ZF - 'Tiratron' Hysteresis brakes and clutches enable precise tension and torque control be realized at a cost effective price. Due to their construction, the ZF hysteresis brakes and clutches are inherently more reliable than that off standard alternatives such a metallic powder brakes etc.
The armature component of the brake units comprises a permanent magnet 'hysteresis' ring, immersed in the magnet rotor. Small air gaps exist between the precision engineered Hysteresis ring and pole ring components, giving rise to no mechanical contact, and therefore the units are not subject to wear or frictional losses.
All functions of the hysteresis brakes and clutches are controlled from the microprocessor based ERM electronic control module (sold separately)
The ERM unit has DIL switches allowing the user to select the most appropriate operating mode for the application, and has running, status, and fault LED indications. The unit is designed for mounting in standard 19" Euro-card rack frames, and requires an external PSU.
For large end users of the hysteresis drives, a full Diagnostics and programming HMI (Human machine interface) is also available. This unit has comprehensive parameter menus for more involved programming and setup of the ERM electronic control modules.
